Still, here we are, out for yet another run in the pastel-coloured countryside. Perhaps it's Buckinghamshire with that pale yellow road surface. I always remember the colour changing quite dramatically when entering from surrounding counties in the 1950s and early 60s, as evidenced by numerous films shot on the roads during this period. I wonder what it would be like to live in Find The Fault Land? Permanently committing gross errors and never having to worry about having any rearlights. ReplyDeleteGosh, yes, I see - it's a left-hand-drive outfit. Meaning one's lady gets splashed with mud as smooth characters in Wolseleys slosh by on the other side. Although not on a sunny day like this one.
ReplyDeleteI thought Wolseley, until I saw there was no illuminated badge on the radiator grille. But then this is FTF Land, so it's obviously a 1951 James Villiers.

ReplyDeleteIt's all foreign in FTF Land Accountant. But Armstrong Siddeley (Diddly Easys as they used to call them)or a Triumph Renown is probably as near as we're going to get.

I'm 14 hours too late, but I spotted the sidecar fault instantly - I'm just not very quick at looking at the moment. I'll speed up!
ReplyDeleteI'm even later, Toby! I'm rarely up early enough to join in the fault-finding. Triumph Renown (or 1800) seems very likely - the artist must have been having a brainstorm as it actually really looks like one! Mind you, it also looks a bit like a late forties Sunbeam Talbot 2 litre.....

Ah, the motorbike and sidecar - an unmitigated mode of transportation if ever there was one. I maintain one of these combinations in the motor home for days when I feel like cheering myself up...the concept always brings a smile to the face as ones passenger rises into the air along with the sidecar wheel when left hand bends are taken too fast. Or right hand bends in the case of this outfit. Am I mistaken or is the nearside frame tubing on the 'bike missing? only a detail I know but it would impede progress somewhat.

ReplyDeleteThe motor car has no rear view mirror nor any wing mirrors. Honestly! We should lock these sort of drivers up and throw away the key (to the cell, not to the car obviously. Always fancied driving a Wolseley again).

ReplyDeleteAh Thud - the shiney blacktop you encounter is a result of the numerous visits by parole officers and the fbi to discuss life with Ms Duggard's kidnapper - we are told today that they even spoke to her as a twleve year old girl and forgot to put 2 and 2 together.
