Sorry there hasn't been much from this blog recently, but I've been pounding the roads of Unmitigated England. So yesterday found me here. I'd not visited the place for about twenty five years, and the memory of it is somewhat impaired due to certain excesses. Of course that's hardly a clue as to its whereabouts. As will the fact that I ate the worse fish 'n' chips here I've had for a long time. How it is we can get brilliant suppers and lunches here in the centre of England and then get let down so badly right on the coast?
I am a designer, writer and photographer who spends all his time looking at England, particularly buildings and the countryside. But I have a leaning towards the slightly odd and neglected, the unsung elements that make England such an interesting place to live in. I am the author and photographer of over 25 books, in particular Unmitigated England (Adelphi 2006), More from Unmitigated England (Adelphi 2007), Cross Country (Wiley 2011), The Cigarette Papers (Frances Lincoln 2012), Preposterous Erections (Frances Lincoln 2012) and English Allsorts (Adelphi 2015)
