I love signs that are what they say they are. If you get my mangled meaning. This was spotted on the Grays Inn Road in that London last Thursday. And I love neon, which I may have gone on about before. It appears to have a long shelf (or wall) life. There's still a big 'Take Courage' in blue neon up on a London gable end, lighting up every night on what used to be a pub. I'd like to bet the owner of the building has no idea it's still connected to his electric supply.

My favourite was (is?) the Lucozade sign on the M4 on the flyover bit coming into that London. My Mum used to buy bottles of the stuff for me when I was poorly. Loved the orange cellophane wrapping, made a wonderful crackly noise. Now an energy drink for serious users of Class B drugs I believe.
I am I right in remembering something of a "squeak" associated with the cellopphane amongst the "crackly noise"
Ron: Don't think that Lucozade sign is still there, sadly, just like there aren't any proper neon signs on Piccadilly Circus anymore for Bovril or Schweppes. All digital now innit? But that round-topped clock is still next to the M4, but, sadly again, not painted blue and not for Martini.

I'm old enough to remember when one went to Piccadilly Circus just to look at the neon signs (honestly, officer, I just came to look at the neon signs) because they were still the most impressive signage to be seen. Now anyone can project a slogan on the side of a building, but old-fashioned neon has a crafted quality that your example, Peter, displays.
Oh, and come to think of it, Lucozade is rather neony in colour, so a neon sign, even a replica, advertising it seems just right. I'll look out for it.
